The Sigma Delta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu was founded on December 17th, 1921. The chapter has a long and storied history at Rutgers University, and we strive every day to continue our legacy. As a social fraternity, we provide opportunities for lifelong social, moral, and intellectual development. Brotherhood is of utmost importance to us. Brothers will form close bonds and many lasting friendships throughout their time in college. A brother is a brother for life, and the memories and experiences shared are invaluable even after college. Our brotherhood is diverse with men of all different majors and backgrounds. We foster an environment where we can share cultural and social interests while still being an individual.

Sigma Alpha Mu was founded on November 26, 1909 by eight young men of Jewish faith at the City College of New York. These men had been called upon to a meeting of sophomore leaders and they discovered that they shared the same ideals and values. They were inspired to create a new fraternity so that all others who shared their beliefs could thrive in a welcoming environment. These men are known as the founders of Sigma Alpha Mu. The fraternity quickly spread and soon new chapters were founded at many other universities. Today, Sigma Alpha Mu has over fifty active chapters at campuses spread across the United States and continues to maintain a strong national presence.
